I made $200k in 60 days doing a job I can't do
I didn't know how to do the actual work. That turned out to be the whole point.
Howdy Founders,
This isn't a normal issue. I built something and I want the right people in the first cohort. Skim it once and you'll know by the end whether it's for you.
My year, short version: my co-founder Ron and I started a concrete business, Hill Country Slabs, knowing nothing about concrete. First customer in five days. Past $200k in annualized net profit by day 60. Sold it about 20 weeks after starting it, run mostly from my phone while being a full-time dad. The exit was great, but the exit isn't the point. The point is how a tech operator ran a blue-collar business without ever picking up a tool.

Why you should care
Tech hiring is at its slowest since COVID, and the first cuts land on the roles that are easiest to systematize: junior devs, analysts, coordinators, support. The direction is obvious. Repeatable, remote desk work is exposed. Physical, local, trust-based work is not, at least not soon.
Home services is an $842B market full of people who are excellent at their craft and light on the business layer: marketing, follow-up, systems, unit economics. That layer is exactly what you already do for a living.
I built a community that will help you take those skills you’ve already acquired while working in tech and apply them to dominating your market with a local home services business, all in your spare time.
How it actually works
You won't actually perform the work in the trade you pick. You'll learn it well enough to quote it, sell it, and manage it, and experienced subcontractors do the physical work. You run the ads that fill the calendar, close the call, schedule the crew, invoice, and follow up. That's how I ran Hill Country Slabs. My subs were great at concrete, so I built the business around their skill instead of competing with it. Treating those subs well is the whole engine.
What Groundwork is
A small group of tech people building this at the same time, with me in it.
Three parts:
The Playbook: the exact order of operations Ron and I used. We’ll help you choose your trade and market, line up subs, price, run ads, win jobs, invoice customers. This is the Zero → Profitable Trades Business Playbook delivered step-by-step in 3 ways:
Video Playback
Live (recurring, on a schedule)
Written (for optimal AI Agent consumption)
The Software: the platform we ran Hill Country Slabs on.
Temporarily called CrewOS (until we think of something better): this platform is your all-in-one Trades Business Operating System. Quote, schedule, invoice, and follow up, all from your phone (if you want). It is AI native, and can be completely controlled by Claude or GrokBot.
The Room: a private community building the same thing at the same time as you. Passing referrals around, sharing what worked with advertising or offer creation, etc
Plus me, live. Working sessions on your real ads and real numbers, feedback on your pricing and sales calls, and a place to ask the "is this normal" questions when month two gets weird.

Hill Country Slabs did $90k in revenue last month with ~44% gross margins. Also, a second location (Atlanta) just opened this week.
The goal is durable income you control, built alongside your job. By day 60, Hill Country Slabs was clearing more than most of the tech salaries it was built to replace, and I ran it all with an hour of work in the morning, a couple hours during my toddler's nap, and an hour after dinner.
I'll give you the same tools, playbook, and support I wish I'd had. I can't promise MY results (Your market and your effort decide that) But I’ll at least get you damn close.
I guarantee it.
Is this you?
It's for you if you've built, sold, marketed, hired, or run operations at a tech company, you can carve out a few pockets of time a day (15 hours per week?), and you want income that isn't one reorg away from gone.
It's not for you if you're after the myth of purely passive income, a get-rich course, or someone to do it all for you.
What to do now
Cohort 1 begins November 1st. It's small, and by application. If you're even a little curious, raise your now by simply replying to this email to let me know you’re interested.
I'll reach out personally, as fast as I can, to book a call. On that call I'll walk you through the full methodology and answer everything you've got. If it fits, we talk next steps. If not, you'll still leave understanding this path better than almost anyone.
I love you,
